I'm Courtney Stone Smith, a Columbus, Ohio–based Certified Personal Stylist and founder of Sur(real) Style and Beloved by Sur(real) Style. 1. What’s the difference between the Closet Edit and the Seasonal Edit?
The Closet Edit is a deep refresh of your existing wardrobe—we style new looks from what you own, identify what no longer aligns, and create a shopping list for intentional updates. The Seasonal Edit happens throughout the year to transition your wardrobe with the seasons, rotate key pieces, and digitize outfits for effortless daily dressing.
2. Do I need to buy a whole new wardrobe to work with you?
Not at all. My approach is about refinement, not excess. We begin with what you already own, styling it in fresh, modern ways. When new pieces are needed, I curate thoughtful additions that elevate your look and align with your lifestyle.
3. How does the Sur(real) Style Method work?
The Sur(real) Style Method blends psychology, artistry, and sustainability to uncover your authentic style. Over the course of 12 months, we explore how you want to feel, curate what supports that vision, and bring your wardrobe—and confidence—into alignment.
4. What happens after my styling session?
After your session, you’ll receive a digital Lookbook with curated outfits and styling notes. I also offer follow-up sessions to refine your wardrobe as your style and lifestyle evolve.
5. Do you work with clients outside of Columbus?
Yes. While I love working with local clients in person, virtual styling sessions are available for people anywhere. Every detail—from fittings to digital outfit creation—can be managed remotely. I am also available to travel out of town (travel fee would be added into the service).
6. I’m not sure which service is right for me. Where should I start?
Start with a Style Consultation or the Closet Edit. It’s a perfect entry point to define your goals, understand your wardrobe’s potential, and create a clear path toward your ideal style.
7. Do you offer style workshops for businesses or groups?
Yes. I offer custom Style Workshops designed for teams, creative businesses, and professional organizations. These sessions explore the psychology of personal style, dressing for confidence, and aligning image with brand identity. Each workshop is tailored to the group’s goals—whether it’s fostering confidence, refining presentation, or inspiring creativity.
8. What all services do you provide for the Wedding Wardrobe Styling?
We offer styling services for any event leading up to the actual wedding day and beyond. That can include the engagement party, engagement photos, bridal showers, bachelorette weekend, rehearsal dinner, the actual wedding attire, and a honeymoon capsule wardrobe. We also recognize the parents stress about what to wear for each event as well. We provide styling for the Mother and Father of the Bride and Groom to keep stress levels down for everyone. Our goal is to keep you from being overwhelmed with all that goes into planning your special day.
